Le programme de gestion globale du poids de Montréal a été lancé en 2003 par Stephen Stotland, Ph.D. comme une première tentative de créer une approche d'équipe multidisciplinaire pour le traitement de l'obésité, réunissant des diététistes expérimentés, des kinésiologues et des spécialistes du coaching mental, en collaboration avec des médecins, pour fournir une méthode complète.

Le Dr Stotland est un expert en obésité et en contrôle du poids, avec plus de 30 ans d'expérience dans l'enseignement et la recherche, l'encadrement de milliers de clients et la direction de programmes multidisciplinaires. Il est fasciné par la façon dont les gens changent leurs habitudes et améliorent leur vie. Son style de coaching est direct, pratique, respectueux et efficace. À l'heure actuelle, il passe la majeure partie de son temps à développer le programme et à former des professionnels, mais continue de travailler avec un petit nombre de clients de coaching sélectionnés.
Notre Recherche
En plus du travail clinique, nous avons dirigé des travaux de recherche portant sur divers sujets, entre autres les résultats à long terme d’un traitement de perte de poids, le profil psychologique du candidat à une chirurgie bariatrique, les effets de la perte de poids sur le bien-être psychologique, le traitement pharmacologique de l'obésité, l’évaluation de la forme physique et de l’alimentation de l’obèse morbide et le développement d'un modèle d’autorèglementation de la gestion du poids et de l'obésité.
