The Montreal Comprehensive Weight Management Program was started in 2003 by Stephen Stotland, Ph.D. as an early attempt to create a multidisciplinary team approach to treating obesity, bringing together experienced dietitians, kinesiologists and mental coaching specialists, in collaboration with physicians, to provide a comprehensive program.

Dr. Stotland is an expert in obesity and weight control, with more than 30 years' experience in teaching and research, coaching thousands of clients, and directing multidisciplinary programs. He is fascinated with the ways that people go about changing their habits and improving their lives. His coaching style is direct, practical, respectful and effective. At present he spends most of his time developing the program and training professionals, but continues to work with select coaching clients.

Our Research
In addition to our clinical work, we have conducted research on a number of topics, including long-term outcome of weight loss treatment, psychological profile of the bariatric surgery patient, effects of weight loss on psychological well-being, pharmacological treatment of obesity, fitness and nutritional evaluation of the morbidly obese and the development of a self-regulatory model of weight management and obesity.
