control of their weight and their lives
Weight Management Programs
Assessment
Patients are seen by our multidisciplinary team to evaluate medical, psychological, nutritional and physical activity readiness and needs.
Introductory Programs
We offer two 6-month Introductory programs: the MR and the SR programs.
The long-term goal of both programs is the same, but the route to achieving the goal is different.
The MR (Meal Replacement) program provides a structure which facilitates weight loss without excessive hunger or loss of energy.
The SR (Self-Regulation) program focuses on learning to manage one’s weight in a conscious manner, based on an awareness of the physical, emotional and situational influences on eating and activity. The ultimate goal of both programs is to help patients to internalize lifestyle changes.
Group vs. Individual Formats
The MR and SR programs are both available in Group and Individual formats. Groups include approximately 12 people, and meet weekly for 90 minutes. Individual sessions are also weekly, lasting 50 minutes.
All Patients
All patients are followed medically, on an “as-needed” basis (i.e. frequency of meeting to be determined with the physician).
All patients have full access to our weekly Fitness, Eating/nutrition and Relaxation classes. All classes are hands-on, experiential and interactive.
Á la Carte Plan
As an alternative to our 6-month programs, patients may select individual sessions as they choose (type and frequency of meetings), and may choose to participate in the weekly classes, while being followed medically, and may include use of meal replacements.
Follow-Up
After completion of the introductory treatment, whether in individual or group format, the patient enters the follow-up phase. During follow-up patients can continue with bi-weekly group sessions or have individual support. They may also continue participating in all supplemental classes and ongoing medical support.
